How to run with a running buggy

IMG_3194

I’ve been running with the Baby Jogger Summit X3 for a year now. A full review is frankly long overdue, but in summary it’s been a fab purchase. But when I bought it, I couldn’t find much info on how to actually run with it. So here are my top tips* for running with a […]

I run because I particularly love cake

Luuuurve da cake

If it’s Wednesday morning, it must be coffee-and-cake-with-the-NCT-girls. Today I was also anticipating an afternoon visit from an old friend that would involve more cake. In fact, I made a few fairy cakes first thing this morning, licking the bowl – obviously – to save on washing up. Or something.  Feeling somewhat adventurous, I looked […]

30-day plank challenge: a cure for cabin fever?

30-day plank challenge chart

I’ve got cabin fever. Haven’t been running for four weeks now, following surgery on my…ahem…nether regions. Let’s just say some repair work was required after Baby was born last May. Since clients and colleagues may be reading this, we’ll skip the gory details and leave it there. All rather inconvenient, since I was hoping to complete […]

Welwyn Garden City half marathon

Most people haven’t heard of Welwyn Garden City. It’s where I live with my hubby and baby, a leafy “new town” in Hertfordshire. It hasn’t got any decent pubs, nor many decent restaurants or a cinema – but it’s nice enough, it’s surrounded by countryside, it’s an easy commute into London and property prices are […]

Standing shivering on the start line of the Herts 10k on Sunday morning, horizontal rain battering my right ear drum, I did wonder if I had bitten off more than I could chew. It was five months and six days since I had my baby and I’d only decided to run the day before. With […]

Daddy or chips?

Running after having a baby (like everything else after having a baby) requires a degree of planning. Whereas pre-Baby, the hubby and I would have jogged off for a run whenever suited us during the course of a weekend, we now have to plan two separate runs a day around a little unpredictable person. It […]

Baby’s first swimming lesson

One of the things we are keen to do with Baby* is to get her used to swimming at a very early age. The hubby was never keen on swimming as a youngster; but I loved it, after lessons as a wee baby. So we enrolled our daughter into the nearest swim school as soon […]

Weekend running routine, before and after having a baby

Before Baby: Have lie-in. Drink tea and eat breakfast with Husband. Go for run together, chatting about this and that. Return home, stretch thoroughly and enjoy cup of coffee. Indulge in a pleasant-smelling warm bath. Enjoy leisurely brunch comprised of carefully chosen protein and carbs with Husband while reading weekend papers in companionable silence. Later […]
